Congrats Alex & Jeff

We had a great time photographing the wedding of Alexandra & Jeff this weekend in Edmonton.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Varscona Hotel on Whyte Avenue.

Special thanks to Whimsical Cake Studio Inc for allowing us to photograph in their location on a cold day in Edmonton!

The Alberta Legislature Building made a beautiful backdrop for these wedding day photos.

Rimrock Resort Wedding | Banff Alberta

Amanda and Brandon’s wedding took place at the fabulous Rimrock Resort in Banff National Park. The Rimrock hotel is located just outside the townsite of Banff up Sulphur Mountain near the Banff Upper Hot Springs. The couple had a magnificent wedding planned and the event was also coordinated by Stephanie at Lynn Fletcher Weddings - everything ended up perfectly.

The day began with getting ready photos in a lovely suite at the Rimrock overlooking the Banff Springs Golf Course and Rundle Mountain. The bride’s two sisters helped to put on her beautiful Claire Pettibone gown and then they all made their way down to the lawn for the ceremony.

With guitar accompaniment performed by the groom’s father, Amanda walked down the aisle to see Brandon for the first time that day. The wedding ceremony was so beautiful, on the terrace at the Rimrock Resort and with Mount Rundle providing an incredible backdrop. After taking family photos, we went around the Rimrock terrace and surrounding forest to do more photos of Amanda & Brandon. There is a tiny pond and stream in the woods behind the Rimrock that is a really nice location for photos. Next we went with the wedding party for photos around Lake Minnewanka by limo making several stops along the way.

We made our way back to the Rimrock Resort hotel for the wedding reception. It was a wonderful celebration. Thank you so much to Amanda and Brandon for having us photograph their wedding, we wish you both all the very best!

Silver Springs Golf Course Ceremony & Regency Palace Wedding

Linda and Bill’s wedding day began with many fun door games at the bride’s parent’s house. Bill and his entourage arrived at their door and the bridesmaids gave them lots of challenges to perform including, of course, serenading the bridesmaids. Eventually the groom and groomsmen gained access to the house and Bill was able to see Linda finally! There was a Tea Ceremony that was performed and then everyone went over to the groom’s house for a second tea ceremony with the other side of the family. After an incense prayer ritual, tea was served with many kind words and gifts given.

Linda changed into her white wedding dress for the beautiful western ceremony that took place at Silver Springs Golf Course in Calgary. The couple performed a wedding sand ceremony with the joining of two different colours of sand, each representing one of the individuals, combining them into a single container whereby the various colours of sand could no longer be separated as in marriage. It was a beautiful day and ceremony, and the vows spoken were so touching and also very personalized and fun! The golf course has one area to do wedding photos outside, and then after a short cocktail hour and family photos, we went to Rundle Ruins with the wedding party for more photos. The sandstone backdrop provided a really nice contrast to the vibrant turquoise colours of the bridesmaids.

The reception took place at the Regency Palace Restaurant in Chinatown, and it was a grand celebration with a multi-course feast, speeches, games, and dancing!

Banff Springs Hotel Wedding of Beth & Nadim

The wedding of Beth and Nadim was a magnificent celebration, joining two wonderful and successful people. We had the pleasure of photographing this truly exceptional wedding day that took place at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. The couple traveled to Banff from the United States to get married at this incredible destination for a wedding. Many of their family and friends had never visited Canada, and there was a large group of people who traveled here for the special day. Being proficient hikers, Beth and Nadim had plenty of fun in the few days leading up to the wedding, including hiking up to the Tea House overlooking Lake Louise.

The wedding was coordinated by Cathy at Creative Weddings and it all went off without a hitch.  We began the wedding day with getting ready photos inside the Banff Springs. Then we went with the couple to the meadow atop Tunnel Mountain for the first look reveal. After taking photos at the meadow, we captured some classic images of the Banff Springs Hotel from Surprise Corner with the couple. The weather was perfect and the beautiful ceremony took place on the Banff Springs terrace overlooking the Bow River and with the gorgeous Canadian Rocky Mountains as a backdrop. After cocktail hour in the Observatory, the reception took place in the Cascade Ballroom culminating in an exhilarating traditional chair dance. The couple also brought in an exceptional guitarist John Gilliat from Vancouver who played incredible classic guitar throughout the evening. The wedding was a truly an elegant affair at one of our favorite venues.

Outrigger Reef on the Beach Hawaii Wedding

Janey and Tri’s beautiful Hawaiian wedding took place at the incredible Outrigger Reef on the Beach resort in Waikiki, Honolulu on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. It was the perfect location for the touching wedding ceremony officiated by Dr. Stan Ponz. The spirit and feeling of the ceremony were truly wonderful and very much Hawaiian. Many traditional Hawaiian sayings and words were discussed to give a sense of how the Hawaiian culture interprets ‘ohana (which means family). The couple’s family and friends enjoyed the ceremony on the outdoor terrace overlooking palm trees and the gorgeous Pacific Ocean across Waikiki’s legendary beach. The bride wore a beautiful dress and carried a bouquet of local tropical Hawaiian flowers. The groom wore a suit and a wedding lei made of Ti leaves, which ancient Hawaiians believed held healing powers and is often given for good luck. For wedding photos after the ceremony, we strolled along Waikiki Beach and into Fort Derussy Beach Park.

The wedding reception was a wonderful celebration of Janey and Tri’s marriage, with a tasty grand Hawaiian meal, and a handmade wedding cake made by Janey & Tri themselves which they baked the night before the wedding! This cake, featured a pineapple layer and a decadently tasty chocolate Nutella layer. The wedding favors were also handmade by Tri and Janey, which were individually handcrafted soaps for each guest. This made such a fabulous and personal gift for all of the friends and family.

We want to thank Tri and Janey for having us capture their incredible wedding, it was so beautiful and we wish them all the very best for their future. I hope we can share more of their gourmet food creations again sometime! Thanks again, JP and Erica
