Linda and Bill’s wedding day began with many fun door games at the bride’s parent’s house. Bill and his entourage arrived at their door and the bridesmaids gave them lots of challenges to perform including, of course, serenading the bridesmaids. Eventually the groom and groomsmen gained access to the house and Bill was able to see Linda finally! There was a Tea Ceremony that was performed and then everyone went over to the groom’s house for a second tea ceremony with the other side of the family. After an incense prayer ritual, tea was served with many kind words and gifts given.
Linda changed into her white wedding dress for the beautiful western ceremony that took place at Silver Springs Golf Course in Calgary. The couple performed a wedding sand ceremony with the joining of two different colours of sand, each representing one of the individuals, combining them into a single container whereby the various colours of sand could no longer be separated as in marriage. It was a beautiful day and ceremony, and the vows spoken were so touching and also very personalized and fun! The golf course has one area to do wedding photos outside, and then after a short cocktail hour and family photos, we went to Rundle Ruins with the wedding party for more photos. The sandstone backdrop provided a really nice contrast to the vibrant turquoise colours of the bridesmaids.
The reception took place at the Regency Palace Restaurant in Chinatown, and it was a grand celebration with a multi-course feast, speeches, games, and dancing!
